Research Assistant – Software Engineering / Computer Science

Riphah International University is inviting applications from highly motivated and detail-oriented candidates for the position of Research Assistant in the fields of Software Engineering or Computer Science. This role is specially designed for MS students or recent graduates who wish to gain practical research experience and contribute to high-quality academic projects under the guidance of a Principal Investigator (PI).

This is a full-time, permanent position with an initial one-year contract, starting with a two-month probationary period. Based on performance and availability of project funding, the appointment may be extended. Candidates with prior research experience, strong analytical skills, or a keen interest in academic research are highly encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities

The Research Assistant will play an active role in supporting research activities and contributing to the success of ongoing projects. Responsibilities include:

Research Project Support: Assist in the design, planning, and implementation of research projects in Software Engineering or Computer Science, ensuring that all tasks align with project objectives and academic standards.

Literature Review & Research Analysis: Conduct comprehensive literature reviews to gather insights, identify gaps in existing research, and provide a strong foundation for research methodology and project development.

Data Collection & Management: Collect, organize, and analyze research data using statistical methods and relevant software tools, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and reliability.

Documentation & Reporting: Assist in drafting research papers, technical reports, and presentations, integrating findings in a clear and professional manner while maintaining adherence to academic and ethical standards.

Team Collaboration: Participate in regular meetings with the Principal Investigator and research team to provide updates, discuss challenges, and contribute ideas for problem-solving.

Knowledge Sharing: Work collaboratively with other researchers and students, sharing insights and promoting a productive research environment.

Organization & Record-Keeping: Maintain proper organization of datasets, research materials, and documentation, ensuring easy access for ongoing and future research projects.

Ethical Compliance: Follow all ethical guidelines and regulatory standards for research conduct, maintaining integrity and professionalism in every aspect of the work.

Required Qualifications & Skills

Currently pursuing or recently completed an MS in Software Engineering or Computer Science.

Strong interest in academic research, with eagerness to learn and apply new research methodologies.

Proficiency in data collection, management, analysis, and documentation.

Familiarity with research software tools and statistical analysis methods is an advantage.

Excellent communication, organizational, and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a research team.

Ability to work independently, take initiative, and manage tasks under supervision.
